Four Seasons of Lotus: Elegance in Four Panels | Original Chinese Ink Style Lotus Oil Painting (Set of 4)
$0.00
A magnum opus from WeicaGallery exclusive artist Jinxian YANG’s lotus series, this work adopts the traditional Chinese "four-panel screen" composition, condensing the charm of lotus through the four seasons into four vertical scrolls that together form an endless, serene pond landscape. Breaking the boundaries of medium, the artist interprets the spirit of Chinese ink wash using oil paints with an innovative "water-oil wash technique". Colors such as turquoise, lake blue, ochre, and crimson blend naturally on the canvas, creating an ethereal, misty texture reminiscent of rice paper. Masterful use of negative space embodies the Eastern wisdom of "using white space as effectively as black".
Each of the four panels is independent yet harmonious, depicting the life cycle of the lotus from left to right: the verdure of spring leaves, the full bloom of summer flowers, the sparseness of autumn seed pods, and the quiet resilience of winter stems. The brushwork balances the thickness of oil painting with the fluidity of ink wash—lotus stems stand tall and forceful like calligraphy, while petals drift lightly like clouds. There is not a single superfluous stroke, showcasing perfect control of density, dryness, and wetness. Framed in a slim light wood frame with a linen mat, it abandons ornate decoration, perfectly complementing the artwork’s elegant Zen spirit and serving as the centerpiece for Contemporary Chinese, Wabi-Sabi, and minimalist interiors.
